Everyone needs a name for their business, products or services.  How does that name become a meaningful “brand” to increase customer recognition and generate more sales?

Join us on March 9th at the CIE in Fall River to learn more about trade names, trademarks, slogans and how to tell your story to the right audience.


Tracy Silva Barbosa is an architectural glass designer, entrepreneur and artist living and working in New Bedford, MA.  Tracy is Co-Owner of Duende Glass LLC (see duendeglass.com) providing unique privacy art glass options for a large audience both public and private.  Tracy is a member of the AHA! New Bedford Steering Committee, and a trustee of the Ropeworks Artist Condominium Trust.  She assists in many cultural events and projects held in the New England and New York areas.


Sharlene Sones is a branding and marketing veteran with brand-building experience across a wide variety of industries (sporting goods, learning products, music, technology, defense and more) because every business has a story worth telling. A brand author and speaker, she is the founder & principal strategist at Brandstoria (see brandstoria.com). Sharlene has developed and launched products in sports and entertainment as well as helped strengthen many well-known global brands including Benetton Sportsystem, Spalding, Forefront Records, University of Pennsylvania and the LPGA. She received her M.S. in organizational dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania and holds a B.S. in management from Babson College.


Cheryl Clarkin is an attorney having extensive experience in assisting clients with U.S. and international trademark and branding issues, including the selection, clearance, prosecution, enforcement and management of trademark portfolios, and is currently at Adler Pollock & Sheehan P.C. (see apslaw.com). She also has experience in proceedings before the U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board as well as opposition proceedings before various international trademark offices. Cheryl’s work in consumer product industries include toys, office supplies, housewares, electronics, food and beverage, clothing and footwear, sporting goods, and jewelry. She has worked in a variety of technologies including semiconductors, wireless communication, computer hardware and software, and water treatment and filtration. Cheryl received her J.D. from Suffolk University Law School and her B.S. from Suffolk University in Boston.


Douglas Denninger is an attorney with over 30 years experience in patent and trademark protection for diverse mechanical, electro-mechanical and chemical technologies.   He has counseled inventors, entrepreneurs, and managers of companies ranging from start-ups to Fortune 100 companies.  He founded his own firm in 2009.  After six years in private practice in the Boston area,  Doug held in-house counsel positions at E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co, American Cyanamid Company, Praxair, Inc, and Tyco Healthcare/Covidien, including two years in Switzerland as Managing Director of a patent and trademark acquisition and licensing entity. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Cape Cod Technology Council since April 2011, and joined the Board of SNEEF  in March 2015.  Doug  received his J.D. from Boston University School of Law and his B.A. from the University of New Hampshire.
