As a startup/early stage company starts to scale, there are no shortage of challenges.   From additional capital needs to operational efficiencies to staffing and competition.   As experienced entrepreneurs, Jonathan Banks and Dan Harper are living the startup scaling dream with Siren Marine.  Siren Marine is poised to lead the "Connected Boat" revolution with its innovative product line designed to provide tracking and monitoring to the recreational boat market.

Captain Daniel Harper - Founder/CEO:Siren Marine

t monitoring and tracking system, Daniel founded Siren Marine in 2011 after spending 4 years developing prototypes. Jonathan Banks - COO: Siren Marineng aboard a 30’ sailboat, Daniel co- founded WA Image, a pioneer in hypertext search software and digital publishing. Daniel has been involved in the marine industry in many different capacities, including a sailing instructor for Offshore Sailing School, a project manager on multiple award-winning classic boat restorations, and crew on the celestial navigation training schooner, Ocean Star. Dan has been a professional yacht captain for the past 23 years and has competed in many ocean races, logging more than 150,000 miles. Daniel owns and lives aboard his Swan 42, Corban, which is the perfect testing ground for Siren Marine’s products.

Jonathan Banks has extensive sales, marketing and business management experience with leading organizations in the marine, outdoor, electric vehicle, automotive, and telecommunications industries. Notable successes include running the trade association for the US sailing industry, prod

ucing 15 boat shows around the country, launching the world’s first high-performance electric motorcycle, and skippering a 57-foot sailboat on a circumnavigation of the world.

Jonathan spent the early part of his career with two of the UK’s leading telecommunications companies; British Telecom and Cable & Wireless. After sailing around the world, Jonathan dropped anchor in Rhode Island in 1995, since which he has held senior-level positions with New England Ropes, Thule, Vectrix, and Sail America. In 2015, Jonathan joined Siren Marine as Chief Operating Officer, and is part of the leadership team that is preparing the company for future growth.

Jonathan is active in the local and national marine communities, and has served on the Board of Directors for Sail America, the Grow Boating Advisory Committee, the National Marine Trade Council, Barrington Yacht Club, the Providence Community Sailing Center, and the Barrington Harbours Association.


Will Shain - Certified TAB Facilitator and Executive Business Coach: The Advisory Board

Experienced Consultant in sales, marketing and management Founder & Owner, The Alternative Board – Plymouth covering the South Shore and the Cape from his office in Plymouth, MA. With over 30 years of experience in companies that span the size of early stage, pre-revenue ventures through Fortune 500 global companies, Will’s specific area of expertise lies in executive management for companies ranging in size from startups to $100 million in revenue. Will is also the President of Peer Group Advisors, Inc., a private firm that consults in matters related to sales, marketing and strategic planning. He has been involved in a broad range of business challenges including sales training, market planning, hiring, training and retention of employees, business financial planning, operations and succession planning. He has sat on corporate Boards of Directors including DIRAmed, LLC (Columbus, OH), the Association for Professionals in Infection Control (Washington, D.C.) and the Simes House Foundation, Inc. (Plymouth, MA). Will spent the last three years of his corporate career as President & CEO of DIRAmed LLC, an early stage, medical device development company focused in diabetes and non- invasive glucose monitoring technology. His most recent Fortune 500 experiences were with Covidien (now Medtronic) as Vice President of Marketing, prior to which he was Vice President of Sales at STERIS Corporation. He serves on the Board of Trustees for Cape Cod Community College in West Barnstable (www.capecod.edu) where he is a member of several committees including Audit and Evaluations. He is also a trustee for the National Marine Life Center in Buzzards Bay (www.nmlc.org) in which he leads the strategic planning activities. Will is an active member of BNI ® (www.plymouthbni.com), and was named the 2014 “Rookie of the Year” for the Plymouth Rock BNI chapter, the winner of the prestigious 2014 “Founders Award”. He was named the “Lion of the Year” by the Plymouth Lions for 2015-2016. Will earned his Bachelors of Science degree at the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, RI and completed his master’s work in Allied Health Sciences at Quinnipiac College in Hamden, CT.

Winthrop Sargent: Winthrop Capital Advisors

 Win has more than twelve years in middle market commercial lending, most notably as a Vice President with The First

 National Bank of Boston. Sargent later purchased and operated a UL-listed consumer products company from 1991-1999. From 2000 through 2004, he was recognized for his work as an interim CFO consultant for a well-respected outsourcing firm.  In late 2008, Win left as a Director at Gagnon Capital Advisors, where he built the interim CFO, Turnaround and Capital Placement division.



Stephen Collins: 1024 Technology Marketing 

Stephen Collins joined his first startup 30 years ago and since then has worked exclusively with early stage and emerging growth companies in networking and telecommunications. For the past 20+ years, his primary focus has been strategic marketing and business development in a variety of roles, including entrepreneur, company founder, VP of marketing, product manager, independent consultant and advisor.

In addition to working with a number of startups, Stephen has also held executive positions in rapidly growing, highly successful Boston area companies Acme Packet, Sonus Networks and Wellfleet Communications, which he joined as a founding engineer. In the early 1990's, Wellfleet was twice named the fastest growing company in the U.S. by Fortune magazine. Stephen's most fulfilling experience was cofounding Spring Tide Networks, which developed a new class of switch for network service providers, leading to a $1.5 billion acquisition by Lucent Technologies.

Stephen currently has his own consulting business focused on helping technology driven companies with strategic marketing and business development initiatives.

He holds an M.S. in Computer, Information and Control engineering from the University of Michigan and a B.S. in Computer Systems Engineering, Summa Cum Laude, from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
